Months after the owner of the Pro-democracy “Apple Daily” newspaper in Hong Kong’s owner Jimmy Lai was arrested and a week after other executives were arrested, the newspaper printed an extraordinary 1 million copies of their final edition. The publication usually prints 80,000 copies. Long lines had already formed outside newspaper stands shortly after midnight.
